I know it doesn't support HD, but the jump in resolution with a component cord opposed to the regular AV jacks is a pretty big difference {at least to me}. I got component cords for my original Xbox and it made a big difference in sharpness, when I switched back to the AV cords it looked dull. I only paid 7 bucks for the Wii cord so I have no problem with that.
A long time ago I bought a VGA adapter for my Dreamcast and it was the best thing I bought for that system, it made everything look immensely better.
