I love playing just the guitar on Rock Band, especially on Live in Tug of War mode. The Rock Band guitar is great, but because it comes wired (unless you buy an extra, not even sure if it's out yet?) but I play with my GH3 guitar too. I have the bundle but everything else just sits in my livingroom getting dusty. Drums are awesome but a bit loud (there are ways to quiet them but whatever).
Long story short, if you love Guitar Hero, get Rock Band. Who cares if you are using the other peripherals?
