Good for general fitness?

Ok, I dont know much about the Wii. Im a sucker for eye-candy, and I understand the Wii doesnt really cut it there. Its main selling point is obviously motion sensing technology. Yet, I am strongly considering buying one.

I havent purchased one in the past since I thought it was more a party machine, and I would get bored of it easy. Now a few of my work colleagues have bought it, I also thinking of doing the same. They keep telling me how its really good for the exercise - something I dont get much of TBH!

I would be more interested in the sports games. What I want to know is, does it really tire you out? Do you feel like you've had a bit of a workout after playing the Wii games for a while? How many of you guys actually use the Wii as an additon to your fitness routine?

Another point is, my wife is not a gamer at all, yet I can see us both getting into this as long as fitness is involved

EDIT: Also what is the Wii number for? Does the Wii come with wireless or anything built in?? Does it have an online service to play others online, like Live or PSN?
