Dear god, for design STAY AWAY from 22" monitors like the plague, they are SHIT, so shit, its unreal, the colours are no good for design at all.
Other than that i fully agree with Chuck, get yourself a nice 24" (not a cheappy shitty TN panel like the 22"s because that defeats the object, get a Dell, samsung, BenQ, Nec something like that along with another secondary monitor.
I run a 24" next to a 17" and it works VERY well, although more space would be nice on the 17, for a short time i ran two 24s which was a dream but takes up a huge amount of space and is a bit overkill(but get it if you can).
However a 24" and a 20" is rather nice, my friend runs a 24" dell and has a 20" samsung TV next to it, he uses it both as a TV and a second monitor, and since most his work is done on the 24 the 20 does not need to be as colour accurate and is simply there for tool pallets and other things, its a nice setup i am really thinking about since i don't have a TV in my room.
