Trust me i have. Most of the DSL modems here are stand alone unless you pay the extra amount for a network meaning you pay for for support when you dont have to. Thats the reason i disagreed with you. If by assumption the dsl modem has a built in router then yes, a hub/switch will work just fine. But as i stated before i have 5 ips but still use the router for its hardware firewall. The other 4 ips i use only when i want to change my ip when i clone a MAC.
