On the Wifi adapter , I would try and locate a used one . I didn't like the $99.99 price for a new one either but with a little calling around , I found one at a local Gamestop for $50.00 .
As for the headset . I got one in a Xbox Live vision bundle off of eBay for $52.00 shipped . (Came with 12 months membership to XBLive , camera , wired headset , 200 XBLive points and to free games)
