Just because they're both Samsungs does not mean they're equal. Are they from the same line?
Also, a 40" LCD is going to inherently have a better picture than a 32" LCD because it will almost always have better black levels. So comparing a 32" and 40" 1080p Samsung LCD would probably leave most thinking the 40" looks better.

High definition is way overrated, it is a worthy leap between 480i and 720p due to the difference actually being noticeable on videogames at least for me, (not so much TV channels), but from 720p to 1080p I cannot tell the difference, honestly.

Really? There's a HUGE difference in pq between my SD and HDTV channels. Perhaps your HD channels are not actually playing HD content? Watching Heroes for example in HD looks drastically better. Clearer, more detail, more vibrant. It looks better than SDTV by far and a good deal better than Divx as well.
