The point of the points system is an attempt by the owners to try and keep people interested in the forum. Some people will enjoy/become addicted to improving their points and therefore will use more features on the forum thus generating more revenue for the company.

It's obviously working on you cause you've come back and posted a few extra posts because of it...

This is the same thing that was used on a Volvo forum i signed my dad up to. (he is 57 & usless with computers. lol)
I was going to suggest it, but just forgot all about it.
