Thats what you'll get with referral contests though. People rush out and get their friends or others to register in order to win - even if the new members have no interest in the forum whatsoever. Hell, they probably dont even own xbox's. Hence referral contests may get the number of members up, but they wont be active members.

If you re-do the competition and add a minimum post count requirement by the referred members, you're just asking for spam - cos thats what you will get! Members will ask people to join and just post 10 posts etc, whether they are complete garbage or not.

Personally, I really dont think you need to run referral contests. You have a large community, with a healthy number of active members already. You should run other competitions, like you free prize draw. Not only does that keep active members happy, by 'rewarding' them, but the final video draw etc was also entertaining. People also probably registered to the forum just to participate.

I think you should have another prize draw in a month or so, with members having to have a minimum post count before they can enter. Either that, or try bring other forum features into play. Maybe, the member with the funniest gaming pic in their user album, etc. This also gets members using forum features which are currently not being utilised very much...

Just a few ideas for you to consider.....
