They are there to slow you down and make you visible. I hate the drunks.
You can throw them as Ifti said, but if you do it too much, the guards will come after you.

What about the templars? Do you have to hunt them down, all 60, or do they just start to show up? Cuz I want to kill them all but, it's hard to find 'em. Also, once the game is beat can I still play it to finish up everything else or is it done? I don't want to be stuck again like w/Mass Effect.

You can go back and replay it once you've completed it. As far as the templars, I think they are just scattered around and you need to find them. Doing some of the side missions for the informant will have you find them and kill them. Don't forget to check rooftops for them, they hide up their sometimes.

By go back and play do you mean start over or I can continue in the same game with all main missions beat?

Yes, you just choose the memory block and you can redo everything in that block.

Isn't there a way to carry on playing the game after you've beat Al Mualim without replaying all the blocks?
Also, in the video that plays when you load the game the assassin has a crossbow. Is this possible to get in game?
