I forsee the next iteration involving a pay to play online mode. Microsoft is already doing it a bit with XboxLive.
So, in the future we have
1). Buy the console for $400
2). Buy XboxLive for $50 a year
3). Buy the game for $60
4). But the extra content for the game (1800MS points)
5). Pay 25 MS points per online round.

If that was ever the case, I would not ever bother with online play at all. That thing would never see a ethernet cord thats for sure. Just go back to PC gaming, the home of the free... Well except MMOs  |

haha dont forget gun rental fees for shooters, ref fees for sports games (refs gotta get paid too), and dont forget to use ur MS points to pay for gas in GTA4 or racing games

wow i actually thought of maybe getting this game in June but if im gonna have to pay to get all the weapons im not so sure that i will buy it

Yeah the bad thing is, is that I want to play Bad Company but refuse to pay EA for extra weapons or buy a Collector's Edition that comes w/ the weapons. THe fact that we already pay for Xbox Live and then are expected to pay for DLC on top of that is just ridiculous. I love online gaming but am hating the direction that EA is bringing it in.

I'm pretty sure EA isn't making us pay for extra weapons anymore. It was one of the front stories on 1up.com.

Yeah, they switched it to the weapons being free, but if you get the gold version the weapons are all unlocked for you. But if you get the normal version you have to complete the game or some shit in order to unlock them.

Yeah they got scared shitless and changed the system. The extra weapons are now available with the special edition of the game or unlocked via ranking up.
