Well??

How's the game then????????

I agree with most of you that the demo didn't live up to all the hype surrounding the game, though I still enjoyed it much more than I enjoy most FPS (I much prefer third person, i.e max paynes, gears of war, nba 2k6, etc).

BUT--

The demo does not equal the entire game, and now that the game has been out for a few days, I am hoping to hear about the game itself. Does it really deserve IGN's 9.7 rating? Does the gameplay really get more complex as the game unfolds, and if so, how? Does the game really test your creativity like many reviews have suggested, or is the game mostly just as straightforward as the demo?
No spoilers PLEASE, but I'd love to hear some descriptive, insightful impressions of the game from people who have either finished it or played it a good way past where the demo left off.

my first impressions: I've only played for about five hours (on hard), and I have to say that, despite a beautiful looking, somewhat unique experience (and yes, the sound is great, and the relationship between the little sisters and the big daddy's great), despite all that, I personally think they did a pretty awful job with the difficulty. I like to start games on hard because I like being challenged all the way through, and I don't like playing games a second time generally (gears of war and max payne are exceptions). Anyway, I'm by no means a video game expert, but I have beaten gears of war on insane three times, and I own a bunch of fps, far cry, perfect dark zero, halo's, timesplitters on original... others too, so I'm also by no means inexperienced in the genre, so I would be surprised if the problem I'm encountering with this game is only mine and no one elses.
Big daddys on hard during the first few levels are absolutely impossible. as any of you who play the game know, when you injure an enemy, then it kills you, the damage you inflicted remains after you respawn. Even with this, it takes at least 20 respawns to kill a big daddy, which is absolutely ridiculous. Yes I know they're vulnerable to armor piercing bullets, but there are a lot of big daddys that show up in the first few levels, at least on hard, and there aren't very many armor piercing bullets lying around. anyway, it would be a very enjoyable experience if progressing past these each big daddy didn't take half an hour. if i could do it over i'd start over on medium, but i don't wanna play through the beginning for a third time now (i beat the demo before the game came out), and im already five hours in on hard which would probably be about two on medium, and i really don't want to do that. So unless better weapons come up in the near future, i have to say that 2k made a horrible error with the hard mode the way it is. but other than that, the game is pretty fun. any questions i will be happy to answer, btw

losttelepath,

if hard mode is too hard for you, switch to medium, don't blame the game! i'm playing on hard and while the big daddy's have been challenging, i never had to respawn more than a few times to kill one. it's all about strategy and conserving your resources. you can change the difficulty AT ANY TIME during the game in the options menu! problem solved.

to answer the original question, yes the game is amazing, and the gameplay gets deeper and more interesting the more you play. the demo is very linear, it is only the intro to the game designed to help you get used to the controls and such. once you are beyond that, you get to explore huge levels with lots of secret areas and power-ups.

you can level-up pretty much everything, you can get tons of different powers and abilities, lots of cool weapons, upgrades for the weapons as well as different types of ammo, and on and on and on. you get a camera which will award you when you take pictures of enemies.

my advice to anyone who finds the game "boring" or "average", KEEP PLAYING! it gets much, much better, i promise!

look fiddolbrfrho, or whatever the hell your name is, you punk, i think that...
you're absolutely right
i just played for another five hours and didn't die nearly as much, though there were still some parts that were a pain, and the big daddy's are still hard, though not as hard. the key is keeping your distance so they don't hit you or charge at you, and dodging their fire, then firing. i guess i just didn't have powerful enough weapons before. anyway, it's still tough in instances, and i progressed a few times without getting all the little sisters, and i barely harvest any of the ones i get, which probably makes it more difficult for me.
anyway, this game really is sick, and it gets better, i agree, despite what i said earlier. forget what i said earlier, except that i suggest playing on medium from the start and that big daddys are kinda tough still :/
they dont give u enough ammo
