the penalty for dying is that you don't get any of your consumables back, and it can get REALLY tedious going at a big daddy with only your wrench and less than 50% health with no medpacks or EVE hypos over and over until he dies.

come up with a strategy that will utilize all your best plasmids and weapons, and hopefully a diversion or find something to hide behind. is that the level with the wooden dock platform thing? i crouched underneath it and took shelter there- it's too small for the big daddy to follow you, perfect cover!

dying and respawning is ok, but if you just used up all your medpacks and you're out of ammo for everything and die you're better just going to the last save point.

All I did at the beginning was electro bolt and then shogun up close, point blank even.

2 bolts and 4-8 shotgun shoots do it on normal difficulty.

The electro bolt is the most useful plamid thing i nthe game, use it a lot.

The dock thing works okay,but if you're fighting a rosie it doesn't really help at all. At the beginning of the game,unless you get the big daddy stuck in a glitch you're not going to be able to kill him without dying unless you use all first aid and EVE restoratives. Once you get the security bullseye big daddy's are a cakewalk...that is if you can find a security camera.

Tagging the BD with the plasmid won't make him aggressive towards you so you can kill him without taking any damage or using any items or ammo. You just get him to walk past a security camera tagged and it'll shoot out an endless number of security droids to attack him. Get the camera to tag him again after the first attack wave finishes and he'll die. You really see how deadly that security camera is when it tags you once it tears through a big daddy.

Other than that jsut use the most powerful crap you've got on him.

consumables meaning med packs and eve??? ive never lost any of those

Yeah, they can be abit annoying. Just use anything that explodes on him. Explosive buck, grenades, mines, (electric buck is also very good) incinerate is abit naff in my opinion, doesnt do shit. maybe use enrage as well or use anything that will stun him or make him loose concetration on you, just keep going at him, wait till you get the crossbow. That hammers him over. lol

I find the best way to kill him is to follow him and wait for a good location to take him down. Be it when he can be attacked from a safe distance or when there are plenty of obstacles for you to strafe around and take cover behind.

Explosives definately work the best on them!

i just meant that when you respawn they are not returned to you, so if you use up all your med packs, ammo, dollars and EVE you will respawn as such.

thats my strategy too, good fighting area that benefits me.

the one thing i always stock up on is proximity mines. here's how i fight them now...

get them in a hallway or tight quarters area.
throw down 3 proximity mines in a straight line between me and the daddy. (not too close to eachother, if one detonates the others its ruined)
after the prox mines are down i get a good distance from him, but can still see him.
then i use a plasmid or an explosive shot to piss him off good.
as he closes ground on me, the prox mines get him. 3 mines with a shot or two will take them down every time.

i do that too, just make sure theres a big pole or something between you & the big daddy.

for killing him, i always make sure i have a few weapons fully loaded. machine gun, shotgun, grenade launcher, chemical gun.

then i stun him with an electric shock. then i take all the electric buck with the shotgun. alot of damage & it shocks him between rounds. then after those 4 shots, i switch to plasmids & shock him again.

then i switch to the chemical gun & electric gel. then to flames. then to machine gun or grenades, whatever i have left.

the fire works good if youre in a safe spot where he cant charge you. flame him up & then unload a clip from safety
