Matchmaking???

Ok, I'm dubious as to whether or not anyone will be able to help me out, but I'm getting frustrated. For the past hour I have not been able to get in any on-line matches.

Usually when I select a game type I am put in a game (lobby or in-progress) within the first minute. Sometimes I may have to wait as long as three minutes, but I can understand that sometimes it may just take longer.

However, occasionally I can't seem to get in a match no matter what I try. Game types seem to play a factor, as I seem to have to wait longer for some such as TDM or HQ. Today it's the worst it's ever been. When I first select Xbox Live from the Multiplayer menu it takes about 30+ seconds to "Download Game Settings" and I have been sitting at my screen reading a book for 20 minutes without being put in a single match!

I did manage to get in one match earlier, and my ping was fine. Unfortunately the match was almost over when I joined, and the lobby closed afterwards. This five minutes of play time is all I've managed so far.

Using my computer my internet does not seem to be running particularly slow, and as I said my ping when I finally did get a match was normal (3-4 bars). I have no idea what's going on, but I've tried almost every game type and it just will not put me in a match. I timed it. 20 solid minutes of "Searching for..." and "Getting match quality...", and not a single TDM game...

Is there something wrong with the matchmaking servers? Is anyone else having problems today? I've restarted my router multiple times, as well as my Xbox. I'm out of ideas and obviously getting very perturbed. Any info, help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Almost an hour later... I've seen the "Trying to join potential matches..." a few times, but still have not been able to get in a game. What the heck is going on?

i played a bit earlier and i had no problems. i'll get on and see if i can get a match

edit: no problems for me. it might be your NAT or something. test your connection

I was having that problem too, I'd be trying to get into a match and i'd get a match here and there so i gave up and was going to try it later.

Ok, I feel a tad stupid, but it's not entirely my fault.

I had my Xbox 360 set up with a reserved IP address and put that IP in my router's DMZ because otherwise my router limited the 360's access. For some reason today it decided to forget all of that and was giving my 360 a different IP. I've gone in and set it up with the reserved addy in the DMZ again, so hopefully that will fix the problem.

Thanks everyone, for letting me know it wasn't a problem with the servers if nothing else.

never had a problem joining matches.....dont ever have to wait more then 1 minute and if your downloading the game settings thats probably because host or someone is lagging and it would take longer. You can always host our own matches and invite a few friends and wait for others to join.

i just tried mine today and couldnt get in any games. says i dont have an active internet, but live works and i can send messages to friends. was doing it a few times last night so i dont think it is me.

yeah this was happening to me about an hour and a half ago. i think it's a server problem because it was fine for me earlier
