MW title without COD statistics - Page 2

The COD franchise is a bloody mess with numbers and names and such. it's confusing to most new or close to new gamers who don't fully know the franchise. this game is unrelated to the COD series, this game doesn't have a number, this game needs a number. they should've gone along and made it COD 1,2,3,4,5 and 6, then done deal.

agreed, allthough i think that CoD is mostly linked to WWII games, so its not that strange that IW decided to drop it. However when you have a follow up to the game of the year its not that strange that alot of the gamers still will link it to CoD...

Even though it's called MW2 I see a lot of UK website listing is as Modern Warfare 2 (COD6).

I think as long as box art is similar to the original, people might look into the game. But I can almost promise you, if it's not even close to how it was on COD 4, regular people will just say "Wtf is this?". Remember, the mainstream does not research or look up on games we do, they just play them, on rare occasions some might but not enough.

There is a significant possibility that sales will go down at first, but once the "people" realize how good of a game it is, the sales will start to go up.

Who knows, we may see a whole new franchise here. I mean, every CoD game has been Modern (Weapons and such etc.) except for World at War. IW realized that people are sick of WW2 games, so now they're starting to make the games more....Modern.

I mean c'mon...If they continued to call it Call of Duty, then after awhile it'd be like Call of Duty 17. They have to change it up once in awhile.

I am pretty sure all the COD games were not modern and the only one so far that is modern would be COD 4.

Company's are probably still using it as "COD" is a hugely well known franchise, so by still using the well known franchise name they don't run the chance of people overlooking MW2.

I agree. And if you would buy the game only because COD is in the title, then you almost don't even deserve to buy it. Fans of COD 4 (everybody, pretty much) should immediately know that this is the sequel. If they need the "COD" to recognize that, then they are not real fans.

That's like saying "If you didn't play COD 2, then you shouldn't have bought COD 4". Except I'm sure 3/4 of people who bought COD 4 never even played any COD.
