Mayor of Boston Wants to Ban Violent Video Games For Kids

Top page of the Boston Herald this morning read "KILL GORY VIDEO GAMES"

I agree that young children shouldn't be playing these game like GTA, but what pisses me off is that he thinks rising crime/murders in the city have something do with violent video games.

Here is the link to the article: Menino: Ban violent vid games for kids - BostonHerald.com

I thought retailers already couldn't sell M rated games to minors.

lol. That's actually exactly what I was thinking when I read the article.

But besides that, it annoys me that he thinks video games are a problem.

It's not that he thinks, it because what kids/teens say. "I did this [violent action] to Jimmy because I say it in [insert game]."

Its more a less a cop out in my opinion. Instead of blaming the child, lets blame the industry in which the child blames. I'm not say a small percentage of kids might be influenced by violent video games, but its a small population. It just used to take the majority of the blame off the child.

Sorry for the double post.

Some do, I would say more don't though. I give it up to my local gamestop, they card all the time. Shit, I'm 19, and they card me when I want to buy a M rated game.

I see what you're saying.

Anyway if a kid over the age of 13 is dumb enough to copy a violent act he sees in a video game, than he already has some problems.

yea. it pisses me off when some kid wont take responsibility for his/her actions. they take the easy way out and blame Video Games. where the hell is the parenting.

and Video Games are protected under the first amendment.
