Buying into a dead format? Advice please.
Okay, I own a PS3, and have a Blu-Ray collection, but, I was looking at Play.com, and they have 3 HD-DVD's for £20.
And, I thought, well, if I buy the Bourne trilogy, Knocked up, Shaun of the dead, and children of men, that's £40, and the HD-DVD add ons are £35 from Argos.
So, that's £75 for 6 HD-DVD's, and the player.
Plus any movies I can get for the cheap.
Is it worth it?
I am so damn tempted. Honestly. If I buy a few more cheap movies, that will make them worth it. And the HD-DVD add on is going nowhere, so I could buy any cheap movies I wanted to, whilst they're there, and when they're gone, I'll still have what I already bought, and It'll be worth it.
Anyone got any advice? I am so tempted.

I say go for it Dan. The price is right, and even though they're not making any more HD-DVDs, the ones that are out still look great and the price on them is only going to go down.

Thanks guys. I am going for it. Totally ecstatic to be honest. They are so dirt cheap. And, I have a friend in America, and I can buy them from there from him, and he will send them, the deals for HD-DVDs in America are even better.

I'd do it if I had the money and a HDTV. It seems like it would be cheaper than buying 6 Blu-Ray movies.

It is cheaper than buying 6 BR movies.
Plus, it means I have the hardware for future purchases.

That's my plan. I own the HDDVD player. I bought it for $120. Best Buy is sending out $50 gift cards because it is a defunct technology. I got 300 and King Kong free, plus five other movies free. And a remote for my 360. So basically I spent $70 on seven movies and a remote. Good deal IMO. I'm planning on building my library. They still play.

Dan, don't forget you can get the American HDDVDs from Play.com as well, just click on international at the top right.
