Pretty sure he set the reserve to $500,000.
That means that if bidding doesn't reach $500,000 then he doesn't have to sell, he can pull the auction off eBay and pretend it never existed if he wants. It's his choice whether or not to accept the highest bid. Anything over that and he legally has to sell what he advertised.
