Fans of SEGA's Dreamcast turned Xbox classics Shenmue and Shenmue II have been hanging out for a sequel for years, and new hope was given when rumours circulated earlier this year, sugegsting that the franchise might be reborn on consoles including Wii.

SEGA president Simon Jeffery has unfortunately shot down any hopes by saying that there are no plans for Shenmue III right now.

Hopefully that means it might eventuate one day, but if Shenmue fans know one thing though, it's that you don't hold your breath.

I am giving up on that game I have found new love with the likings of Gears of War and BioShock and most of the games coming out this year and next.
