1500 lbs seized during traffic stop

BATAVIA, Ohio -- A traffic stop on Interstate 275 ended with the seizure of nearly $3 million worth of marijuana.
Clermont County Sheriff A.J. Rodenberg said Friday that just after 2 p.m. Thursday, a deputy on patrol on I-275 near State Route 125 saw a cargo van commit a traffic violation.
While talking to the driver, the deputy said he could smell marijuana. A K-9 dog assigned to him also detected the drug.
When deputies searched the van, they found 181 packages of marijuana weighing a total of 1,500 pounds.
The sheriff's office estimated the drugs' worth at about $3 million.
Terry Crowe, 33, of Evansville, Ind., is charged with trafficking in drugs. His bond was set at $100,000.
Rodenberg said this the largest drug bust since a 2006 investigation yielded 1,600 pounds of marijuana.
