I've only been playing king and emperor games and thrashing the AI, so can someone tell me how much the step-up is from emperor to deity?

Emperor is a littl etougher but do able. Diety will put you to the test. Its really hard. The Ai seems to learn tech so fast that they have cannons when i just got catapaults.

Its a challenge

Cheers, the first deity game I did I used England and got a great scientist, and rushed feudalism. I would've won by 1000AD if the Chinese weren't so far away and had so many cities.

On Diety, Democracy is a must. Research all techs that lead up to that first. Everyone will eventult declear war on you anyway, mines as well get the science bonus.

So far i've found that peace is your enemy on deity, if your at peace then the civ at peace with you advances a lot faster than you and the others.

I've been struggling with deity (got the cultural and economic wins) but the other two wins will be hard. Anyone have any tips? How many cities should I build early on? I always feel like I never build enough.
