Xbox Live connection issues
Hi all,
I've been trying to play Halo 3 online and would get disconnected every so often, sometimes more than others. So I posted on another forum about this problem and they told me to try port forwarding and I was given a website.
I tried the port forwarding and it actually made my problem worse! I couldn't connect at all to Halo or NHL 08 (I never tried to connection NHL 08 to live prior to this).
So I redid my settings to not do port forwarding for the specific ports it asked me to do. Now Halo plays but NHL 2008 wont connect to the EA servers at all!
What gives?! My router is a Netgear RP114 if that helps at all.

Maybe your Ethernet cable isn't tight enough? Just try messing with it and see if it works.

Yes , router firewalls can cause all sorts of problems to Live.

How do I do this?!
On second thought, isn't turning off a router firewall a really bad idea?

If you have a pc firewall like mc afee, Nortan, Windows Firewall, AVG etc... then no but if you dont then I would be careful

when you do a xbox live connection test does it say your Nat is open, moderate or strict?
the the nat is anything other than open, do the port forwarding again, turn the routers firewall off, reboot the router.

if you know which sites are bad and what look bad disable your firewall. but if your a noob who will go anywhere dont bother.
