password protect a wireless access point signal?

Ok i've got a belkin wireless access point.

I've got the access point hooked up to the main pc via the ethernet port
the internet connection is going into the main pc via the usb port

The other computers on the network are accessing the internet connection & network via internet connection sharing.

how can i password protect this signal so no skanky little bitches can get onto the network or use the internet connection? (the belkin software included isnt working to set-up a WEP key etc).

Is there a 3rd party application that i could install that i could use to set a password for the connection?

Belkin is supposedly different. I only did it to mine once but I'm pretty sure the address was different from the Linksys we had.

i tried the 192.168.2.1 and the page didnt load.

I'll give the http://192.168.1.1 a go and see if that works.

Any idea's on something i could download that would do it for me?

The default IP will be in the booklet or online and you can log into it. The firmware is where you set up the encryption. I would use WPA instead of WEP. It will be under the wireless security setting in the firmware.

The GATEWAY is on the manual, but can be easily found on the command prompt. I believe you have to be a little more specific for this user if you want to give him advice as i believe he is a novice.
