I have been pondering over the Asus eeepc 900 that has Linux as well.... I really want an ultra-portable.
My cousin has that computer it is very good for the price. If your just using it for internet its perfect.

Yea, i've been comparing and pricing netbooks for a while and I keep coming back to that one.

I just need an ultra portable device that's gonna be good for note-taking, IM, and internet. A 10 inch, 2 pound machine is much easier to carry with textbooks than a 6 pound, 15 inch machine...

Strange, because I keep finding sites where people indicate that sleep and hibernate just works out of the box on these HP laptops with Ubuntu 8.04

I'll keep my eye open and if I stumble upon anything which might help you, I'll be sure to let you know.
