moving video to laptop
I have a sony DV video camera (the exact model escapes me at the moment)
However its only a couple of years old,
Is there anyway of me getting the video that I have shot from the DV tapes onto my PC so i can store them, or burn them to disc?
I would also like to able to play the disc on a dvd player if possible?
I have a baby on the way and want to be able to store the videos I shot of him without having to spend a fortune on tapes for it!!

does your dv cam have av jacks? if so you can plug those into you comp to get the vid off. you will probably need a expansion card to connect it though.

yea it has the cables to connect to the computer as I can watch the videos thru my laptop,
I just cant seem to be able to get the videos from the camera to the harddrive

download wintv2000
install it and plug the cables into the pc
scan for new channels and see if it picks up your camera
I use wintv2000 to record my sky/ps3 footage.
so all you'd have to do is press play on the camera & record on the computer.

also check if it has a firewire port.. my DV camera is about a couple years old but it still has one and that is another way to transfer the video...
