My first computer build
Iv'e been using my computer for too long for so many years it's still Pentium 4 and Iv'e decided to get an upgrade. Let me know what you think.
Specs:
XFX nForce 790i
Intel Core2Duo E8400 3.0GHz
G.Skill 2GB DDR3 1333Mhz Ram
2x XFX Nvidia Geforce 9800GTX
Western Digital Caviar Sata 2 500GB
Asus 20x Sata DVD Writer
Coolermaster 1000 Watt PSU
Zalman Gaming Case
OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit edition
I'll be running this off a Sharp Aquos 42" LC-42D62U Which I currently own.
I'll be wanting to overclock as well.
Do you think that this would be good for Crysis? Or maybe I should wait for the next generation of graphic cards?
Also about Windows Vista, does it have the same features and functions as Windows XP MCE with the Xbox 360?

Nice, should be a shit hot machine, have fun with it, from experience though, it can get to be a pain in the arse using a PC on an LCD TV all the time, you should get yourself a 22" LCD too.
It would kick arse for Crysis, if you can't run it maxxed on that machine, then you can't run it on anything! 
And, yeah, Vista Home Premium is the same as MCE 2005 basically.

nice system.. but nvidia is coming out with some new graphics card, if you can wait then wait..
go here... [H]ard|Forum - Powered by vBulletin... they have damn good info and can recommend some good stuff... just browse and read threads there and you can get some ideas about how to go about or what you can change...

Any reason that you are going 64-bit on the OS? I'd suggest bumping up the RAM to 4GB rather than 2GB if you are set on going the 64-bit route. Fortunately RAM is cheap...so it won't add much to your total.

Any reason why you are going for an SLi build?
Also, Nvidia boards are only good if you want to use SLi, but SLi is a complete waste of money.
You should get an Intel based motherboard, the P45 chipset boards just came out and are awesome, i should know i have one, and i should also know about SLi as i have it in one of my systems, its complete and utter tosh.
IF you can configure them properly, you are looking at maybe 30% extra at the very maximum, not much of a return for buying two of them is it?
You will also have to switch to one to play many games as SLi is not fully supported by many games.
Plus, SLi driver support for the 9 series cards is poor.
Stick to one card, it is more than enough for any game including Crysis, you can spend the extra buying something a lot more useful or just putting some extra money in your pocket.
The PSU is overkill, believe me, if you really want to spend decent money on a PSU, get a Corsair HX620W or a PC Power and Cooling one, Coolermaster PSU's are a bit so-so.
Lastly, why the 64bit OS? you DON'T need it, just get the standard 32 bit OS.

There are 64bit versions of games. Ex. Half-Life 2 and Far Cry.......You need a 64bit OS to play them. And why not get the 64bit OS which will actually help use the power your chip holds. I loved my Windows XP 64bit..
Definately up your ram to 4gb. 3gb minimum.
