My first computer (that I helped build). Had a 249 MB Seagate drive, 1 MB Cirrus Logic video card, 14.4 kbps modem, Windows 3.1, no CD ROM drive, but we did have the HD 5 1/4 and 3 1/2 floppies, with a 14" monitor for about 2k in 1993.

God i hated Windows back then. I pretty much ran anything and everything from DOS. WordPerfect 5.2 and 6.0, Norton Commander, etc. Of course, I did like the lack of the registry back then. Before installing a program, just copy C:\windows to C:\windowsbackup and if all hell broke lose, you just copied it back. Those were the good ole days.

Yeah but I can do 900 with os I saw and the rest i can get to around 1000 or so. I need a new pc I have my laptop but my home pc is like over 6 years old.
probably get like a:
phenom II x4 940 3.0 ghz
4 gb ram
1 tb hdd
ati radeon 4890 1 gb
vista home premium 64 bit

No, the free upgrade is only applicable for the purchase of a computer from an OEM retailer. They do the free upgrade to prevent people from NOT buying a computer and just waiting for Windows 7 to come out. This could seriously hurt an HP, Dell or Gateway.
