Good to hear. Tell us how it runs when you get it pieced together

Got the pieces and the parts this week and sat down tonight and assembled everything. Here is a view inside of the case after some cable management work.

And here it is from the front with the door open

First speed test is in. I upgraded the firmware on my Samsung DVD burner, removed the Rip Lock and increased DVD read speeds.

Downloaded DVD Fab HD decrypter and decrypted the Disney movie Cars to my hard drive in 8 minutes and 24 seconds.

Then, I used DVD shrink to bring down to a single 4.7GB DVD file and that took 1 minutes and 56 seconds.

So, 10 minutes and 18 seconds for a complete rip and shrink.

Windows 7 Index rating, no tweaking...just straight outta the box

So, I applied a very MILD overclock to the box. I took the stock FSB of 333 and upped it to 360...giving me a bump from 2.83ghz to 3.06ghz. It's the equivalent of jumping from the Intel Q9550 cpu ($219 at NewEgg) to the Intel Q9650 cpu ($325 at NewEgg).

Haven't noticed any real temperature change....it's still running very cool (Low 30's @ idle....on the stock cooling no less). Thus far I'm very satisfied with this computer purchase. It's been rock solid thus far, and everything is running exactly as intended (for example, RAM at 1:1 FSB ratio with 4-4-4-12 timings...as shown below.)

Loads of information - pretty impresive. I've been thinking of building something like this but never got around it. I struggle to find time theres days. Good job thought...

Looks good!
Whats the point of running 1:1 FSB/Mem.?

Heres a CPUZ Screeny from 30 min of overclocking from my 940 I got today:

What this ratio refers to is the direct relation of CPU clock cycles to memory clock cycles. So, in a 1:1 ratio situation the CPU and memory are running at the same speed. Some believe that you get the best performance in this scenario, others believe that it really doesn't make a difference anymore. I figure it's doable just fine and with running my RAM a bit slower...often times you can get slightly better timings. It's all just personal preference I guess.

With RAM is seems that the biggest bit of confusion involves the speed of the chips. When I was going with this purchase, I had people question why I wasn't going to DDR2 1066 or even DDR 1200. That all boils down to whether that extra speed would ever be used. With my particular chip, a FSB of 333 x 2 comes out to 667...which is the fastest my RAM was going to run anyway. Going with DDR2 800 gave me leeway to overclock up to 400 on my FSB (400 x 2 = 800). I knew I would never push it above this, so going DDR2 800 just made sense.
