Bedroom MakeOver
Alrite, in 14 days my mom is moving to hawaii where i will live alone my sr year of highschool in michigan usa.... in this case im moving my room and turning my current bedroom into a "gamerzone"
Im buying....
"new entertainment center" "fits into closet and hides as it opens up
"surround sound 5.1" going rite into the room along with it
"gray/silverish paint"
"staining the wood a dark black color matches closet and entertainment stand"
Its gonna have as u walk in u see the closet doors and then u open them to a hidden huge entertainment center complete with a 29 in HDTV capable of only 720p but its good enough for me...thats my motto...my bed has a matching black and gray bedspread and the rooms colors are obvioulsy black/silver/gray
any suggestions...or questions??
..PS... High school student on mcdonalds salary....so far spent 350....tv is next...

thats pretty cool, im in the same situation. My mom got a job in a town about 45 minutes away. And my stepdad works non stop in the oil field, so i'm moving into a new nicer house all by myself. Im staying here so i can finish my senior year playing football and baseball here. except it seems in your situation you gotta pay for stuff, whereas i dont.

You both sound like you have a good deal going with this. Dont piss it away doing something stupid. Having your own place for senior year brings one thing to mind. Keg Party's!!!. Just make sure you are in good with your neighbors and invite them as well.

Ok I need to repost and clear some things up:
First off, My mom is paying everything... All Bills like cable, power, water... She is also sending me money...well she is keeping her bank here and depositing money into it through online....she is a nursing supervisor who makes pleny of dough and will only make twice as much in hawaii at her new job. So everything is payed for expect my own pleasure...thats where mcdonalds comes in... As of now this is what has been purchased....
72" Wide Entertainment Center that fits into closet perfectly... like 1 inch of room on each side... Cost... 150 Bucks
Bought all the Paint for the room and every paint supply imaginable...Also including wood stainter for closet doors, entry door...window borders
Cost... 60 Bucks
Xbox 360 Premium edition....and this friday...i plan on a 280 dollar paycheck as because i didnt work much due to school exams/finals....This paycheck im looking into a 200 dollar pioneer 5.1 surround sound system that is capable of all my moderately sized room will need.....
What will be left is a 340 dollar tv that will be bought with next paycheck of around 380.....
Xbox 360 HDTV Cables (with premium)
720p 27'' HDTV
Black Entertainment Stand
5.1 Pioneer Surround sound
Also purchasing New carpet... (hopefully its not too hard to install although i helped my grandpa (ex carpenter of his own buisness) recarpet out on our dining room area....
I also have a labor friend who is willing to put in just as much work as me...so.... ill get pictures of the room asap...if my mom does not take the digital camera with her to ahola hawaii....

i'd like to offer a small piece of advice. i have a gameroom myself and i discovered that having carpet is not such a great idea. beer, paraphanaila liquids, cheese dip, and god only knows what else gets spilled on it and it starts looking amd smelling like discolored ass within a year. no matter how much you clean and vaccum carpet it still accumalates dust, dirt, and other nasty crap which is unhealthy for high end electronics.
skip the permanent carpet idea and use your existing subfloor. if it's wooden flooring then all the better, if it's concrete then paint it to match the room, or do what i did and get a nice large area rug. it's much easier to take a rug outside and clean it than it is to do inside without throwing the dirt and everything into the air where it could damage your equipment, or as is the case with my girlfriend, screw up her allergies.

There is no way you can get an HDTV for under 400 bucks. Mine cost 4000 with warranty and it is only 40".
