TV with Component Video

All of the talk is about buying expensive HDTVs but really all you need is a tv that supports component video right? The output will still be in high def if I'm not mistaking, its just that you cant watch tv and other things in high def... someone with more knowledge wanna comment?

i do think so i have a 42 "" plasma from samsung the Samsung PS-42D5S wich is HD/ready...... HD/ready ??? mmmm i called samsung and they say its not real HD like in tv so... i bought my 360 hooked it up via component and what do you know... it works and i looks just as good as those 26" setups that Microsoft has all across the country showing off the 360's capabilities.. only mine is 42" big and i got to tell ya its amazing!!! now curious as i am i still havent figured this out completly because the resolution my samsung plasma is 852 x 480 but still its able to crank out these beautifull images. call of duty 2 has never looked better. now here's my theory: i think that aslong your screen is HD or HD/ready your okay because the xbox and the component cable do all the heavy work. well it has to be because anything else doesnt make sense. now another question would be even though the xbox is powerfull and all but how does the screen make it self believe that it is HD and all because still if the 360 would do the work the screen has to do something right how does the xbox fool the tv in believing that its HD?????

anyway did this answer your question or do i have a miracle tv????

Yeah kind of, if anyone else has any input please post it....still kinda curious on how the whole thing works. If the tv has component hook ups does that make it "HD ready"???
