Best HDTV Display Setting

Hi all
Firstly, apologies for this question. Im sure it has been covered here before but I couldnt find a suitable thread, so I'm about to re-ask it........

My TV supports both 720p and 1080i, which setting should I be using for my 360? Currently I have it on 720p, since I thought that was the setting most games are made for, but now I hear I should have it on 1080i??

Many thanks, and apologies once again for the recurring question!!

It's going to depend upon your set actually. My TV supports both 720p and 1080i inputs (even though it outputs to 768p...Sony grand wega III). When i set it to 1080i I get stuttering in the games at random times. With 720p, no stuttering at all.

Thanks for your replies. Ive tried both settings and cant seem to find a difference. maybe its just me!
My new TV (ordered just for the XBox!) should arrive tomorrow and I'll have a mess about on that using both settings to see fi I can see any difference.
Basically with some games, such a PGR3, I get quite a few jagged edges, but GOW, for example, is perfectly smooth and fine. Initially I thought that the jagged edges were in the game, but now I am told it could even be my HDTV cable??! Im using the component HDTV cable that came with my XBox....

Try both see which looks better. The 360 only draws games @ 720p so selecting 1080i just forces it to upscale before outputting.

IF you care for the best picture, make sure to calibrate your TV w/ a copy of DVE. Get it from amazon

I was thinking of moving my TV to the opposite wall but my component cables are slightly too short, if I get extensions for these cables will this reduce the image quality in gameplay?
Thanks

I'm still looking for help with this issue. My 19" monitor I just bought is suppost to support 480p, 720p, and 1080i. When I select the option 720p on the xbox 360 dashboard the screen gets too big and a little of stuff goes off the screen, so right now I am using 1080i because it works fine with that. Any help on how to get it to work with 720p? Thanks.

Not sure - just leave it on 1080i and let the system upscale it for you I guess. Ive left mine on 1080i also.
