I just bought a 61" 1080p 10,000:1 HDTV and I used both my VGA cables and my component and the difference is almost nothing. Some games have a little more viewing angle, but the VGA cable CAN NOT do true 1080p so its almost pointless unless you buy it for a computer monitor.
I could not be more frustrated then I am now about this 1080p issue. The 360 has no HDMI so no true 1080p which means I spent all this money on my new 1080p TV and I cant even see a 1080p signal on it. I bought both the 360's HD-DVD player and the Toshiba HD-A2 HD-DVD player and BOTH CAN NOT DO 1080p!
So if you own a 1080p TV and want to see 1080p signal, buy a PS3 and get madden 07 its FULL 1080p through HDMI. D@mn you MS for ruining my Christmas and making me waste $3000 on a TV I cant even max out.

^scorpz i se your point on this but im a bit suprised as you seem quite knowlegable judging this thread and others you have posted that you did not look into the subject more before splashing out all that money so you cant really blame MS for spending all that money...out of intrest do you own a PS3 ?

I didnt think the 360 could do 1080p, unless you have the VGA cable I guess.
I must admit though, it does seem a bit silly that MS bought out a HD console with no HDMI connection.....

VGA allows for DVDs to be upconverted which is a plus. That's about it. Also a few TVs accept 1080p via VGA but not Component.
An HDMI cable will come out eventually, the 360 does have a digital output

Personally, it doesn't seem like you did enough research before you went out and purchased something. For what it's worth, the 360 can indeed to 1080p out of the component cables....but not every TV can actually display the signal because typically 1080p doesn't come in via component cables.
I really wouldn't worry too much about the difference between 1080i and 1080p. Seriously, it's miniscule....and yes I follow technology closely and do indeed understand the differences between the two.

The only thing which is "future proof" is DEATH. Did I mention, I absolutely hate the use of the term "future proof".

I didnt think the 360 could do digital out.
Do you think the HDMI cable would make a massive difference in games, as thats all I really use my XBox for....
I think they should have stuck a HDMI cable in with the XBox rather then component, especially since they advertise it as a HD machine...!!

Why? Component is HD. That qualifies as an HD machine. It would have made sense as it is new technology but, I'm going to guess they will add HDMI in the near future.
And as far as digital out, yes it supports optical digital out, which is audio.
