Smile How do I tell if a HDTV is capable of 1080p?

I'm saving up for this TV at the moment.http://play.com/Electronics/Electron...V/Product.html

I'm a bit of a perfectionist and I dont want to buy it if it's not 1080p !

Also, how do I tell if a tv is capable of it?

You look at the line in the specs which shows the resolution. WIth the link you posted, the resolution is 1366 x 768. The second number is NOT 1080, so this is not a 1080p set.

Now, look at this Best Buy link to a Sony 1080p set. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1149208957434
The resolution is 1920 x 1080.

A 1080P set is quite expensive still. You likely will not find one under $2,500 (USD)

Don't feel bad, I don't think you will notice the difference. I'm running my games on a Sony Grand Wega III (3 years old now) and it cannot do 1080p....it's max resolution is 768p and it looks fantastic to me and I haven't even considered replacing it.

Why do you want 1080p so badly? It's not as big of a deal as you probably think.

How much you looking to spend?

About 800 pounds...

...I just heard 1080p was the best...but if it's a shit load more money then I wont bother.

I just looked at the projector you're getting (from your sig) if thats 1000dollars...then why should I bother with a HDTV? I have enough space for a projector.

What about this TV?http://play.com/Electronics/Electron...searchsource=0

[quote=HadeZ;359960]I just looked at the projector you're getting (from your sig) if thats 1000dollars...then why should I bother with a HDTV? I have enough space for a projector.[quote]. Well, with a projector you will have to have some sort of surround sound system to get audio. Second, you will need to invest in a screen. Third, you may or may not have the room/throw angle to get the right size image projected. Fourth, bulbs for projectors can get pretty expensive (usually $300-$600) and they have to be replaced every 2,000-4,000 hours. Fifth, you usually have to keep your room pretty darkened down (low ambient light)to make use of a projector So, there are a couple of reasons to consider a TV over a projector. But for sheer size for the money, you cannot beat a projector.
