Actually that price is not bad in Australia. More expensive than a Dell, but much better quality. Plus if you travel overseas Asus have an internation warranty for 2 years. If I were to get a laptop, I would pay the extra for an Asus.
Don't worry about the 5400rpm drive being a bottleneck. You have to get a laptop from the US or a Media Center laptop if you want a 7200rpm drive.
