Finally time to invest in a TV
Right, the time has come.
Christmas has passed and I'm enjoying my 360 - Although I wouldn't say I'm exactly addicted. I am hoping to buy a couple of games in the weeks to come and I'll also take the step up from my 12'' portable TV to a pretty nice HD.
Here is where I need somebody's guidance. I have been looking around websites and have come across this:
http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/p...ification#spec
Is that worth the buy?
EDIT: It seems that the difference in price goes by both screen size and contrast ratio. How much difference would a higher contrast ratio make to a 26'' screen?

It's a nice TV. No progressive scan, if that's something you'd like to have. I'm not the TV expert on this board so I'm going to mostly leave it to more knowledgable people. For some reason though, that TV just doesn't grab me too hard.
I use a 27' Westinghouse, and I like it just fine, but I wish I had gone for the 32'. I don't know how the price would convert exactly either, I just have a hunch you could do a little better than that. Don't take my word though.

Okay I took the price of that TV and converted it into USD so I could understand your budget. It comes out to $683.07 so with that in mind.....
I have a few questions what are your size limitations? Do you NEED a flat panel (hopefully not because you can get a much bigger HDTV that isn't a flat panel for the same price)? Are there any on-line store you'd like me to browse through?

The biggest screen size I could have is probably around 26''. My budget is probably around £500, but I don't exactly want to spend that much...I'm considering spending the whole 500, but the cheaper the better really.
I just want a pretty good quality HDTV to play my games on...
I would like to buy from either www.comet.co.uk or www.currys.co.uk
Thanks!

How far back do you sit?
Are you against buying from RicherSounds or PCWorld?
500GBP isn't a huge budget and you're gonna want to spend it all. Don't buy off brand TVs. Time and time again I see people complaining about problems they wouldn't have had with a good brand TV.
26" Samsung
26" Philips
32" Hitachi
26" LG

Right, I think I'll go for the £500 26'' Samsung.
I sit about 5 foot away from the TV, so I assume it'll all be fine and I'll get a pretty good picture quality.
Thanks all.
