HD-DVD add on with Westinghouse LTV-32w6

I own a Westinghouse LTV-32w6(quite a good TV for a 15 year old's budget) and was wondering if the HD-DVD add-on would be worth it. I am connected through VGA, but I am using a circa 1994 Pioneer Elite Stereo system (Hand-me-down from the old man(he paid a good 4 grand back in the day))

Should I upgrade my audio first, or should I take the plunge into HD-DVD?

P.S. could you suggest some stereos for around 250 US?

the best sound you could get for 250 is a good home theater in a box.

Yes it's worth it...although I'm partial to BluRay.

For $250 go for the Onkyo HT-S590

Actually, my real question is, will the HD-DVD add-on still look good on a 720p TV

Yes. HD-DVD is 1080p, that's what matters. The resolution of the display itself isn't as important. Contrary to what companies want to make you believe, there isn't a huge difference between a 720p and 1080p resolution display. There IS a huge difference between a 720p and 1080p signal.

Hope that helps

Just get the 360 HD DVD add on. It's $200 and you get King Kong for free. It's picture quality is just as good as the stand alone players.

well, that is easy to say when you have a job, lol. Being 16 and jobless, my 30 dollar a week allowance has to fund my gaming habits, a loan i took from my friend on my PS3, and now this. I think i will stiff my friend and just buy it, and say ill pay him back later, lol

Return your PS3 and wait till the price drops.

According to gamerankings.com(unbiased site that takes all reviews and averages scores) there are only 9 PS3 games with a 70%+ and 2 with a 85%+ rating.

1. Resistance: Fall of Man 89.1%
2. Fight Night Round 3 85.0%
3. Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 82.1%
4. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 81.6%
5. Call of Duty 3 81.3%
6. Tony Hawk's Project 8 79.1%
7. Need for Speed Carbon 78.7%
8. Ridge Racer 7 78.4%
9. Madden NFL 07 77.9%
10. NBA 07 64.8%

That's a pretty horrid line up...especially seeing how most of them are on the 360!

well, it is a launch console(my friend works at eb and has a cool manager who hooked me up) and I love resistance more than any game ever for its single player. IT is the only game I have, and the only game that is good. I mean, I plan to use the PS3 only for its exclusive titles(though the list shrinks daily). I can't return it even if I wanted to, though I considered it at a time.
