That should really be all there is to it. Have you tried using a different 360 cable?

deathwish, I currently have my 360 hooked into my LG SDTV but it has component inputs so I'm guessing i'm playing in 480p, will there still be a big diff between this and 720p and I saw some 360's and ps3's hooked up on toshiba HDTV's and it looked supper jaggy and ugly, not like that on quality HDTV's like sammy's and sony's right?

Well, I see light coming out of the end of the cable at the receiver end, doesn't that mean I should get static at the very least? (I'm not being a smartass, serious question) Or are digital signals different?

Okay, I tried my cable that came with the 360 and it works. Thanks for the help, I guess I'll go buy an MS VGA cable.

If it's an SDTV you're playing in 480i. An EDTV can do 480p. I have an old school Sony SDTV w/ component inputs.
There is a night and day difference between a 720p and a 480i HDTV. What matters is the signal being 720p, not the display. I used to have a 480p projector that could accept 720p and it looked almost as good as my current 720p projector.

Cool. Digital signals are different than analog ones. Usually they either work or they don't

Yo, I'm kinda interested in an HDTV, mainly to get the best graphics and gameplay out of my Xbox 360. I will eventually use it for HD movies and shows but I want to make sure I can get the most out of my Xbox 360 with the HDTV. I'm thinking about getting a 32 but no higher, what I really want to know is what specs I should be looking for that will give me the best picture quality. Thanks
