Updated 08/19/2008 - HDTV and Surround Sound Recommendations!
Last Update: 08/19/2008
Below you'll find my recommended HDTVs, Projectors, and Sound Setups. I'll update it as I find better options for a given budget and/or application. If this thread does not list the price show on the wesbite...let me know so I can update it.
If you need any cables or speaker wire, I recommend buying them from Monoprice. If you're buying a 50"+ HDTV the Monster 360 cables may be worth the few extra bucks. Try them out and see if it's worth it for you.
How big of an HDTV do you need?
HDTVs
Remember to calibrate your new HDTV with a copy of DVE or AVIA no matter what you decide to buy. Without a calibration you will NEVER see the best picture from the TV!
- Flat Panels(LCD, Plasma)
- Projectors(DLP, LCoS, LCD)

Surround Sound Recommendations:
There is no best sound system...only what sounds best to you!
- Home Theater in a Box(HTIB) - If you have more than $400 you should go with a component setup
- Speaker Packages
- Receivers - Underlined receivers decode Dolby TrueHD for Blu-ray movies
- Front/Center Speakers
- Subwoofers:
- Cables
- Xbox360 Cables

Well I think I'm done with the HDTV and Projector part. Now for the surround sound section...that's a lot more difficult.

Death, it would be nice if you could make sections for LCD HDTV's in the sub 1000$ price range, because lots of people are making threads about that. Also just a question, what is better the Samsung 26" High Design HDTV's or the Sharp Aquos 26" HDTV.
