Neither of the HTIBs you listed said they had an optical input in their specs. Look for a HTIB w/o a DVD player as they're generally higher quality. For most UK folks on a budget, I simply recommend the Yamaha AV Package 61.

Every 360 has an optical output. The port is located on the 360's a/v cable

anything $2,500 or less you'd recommend over it?

Deathwish,
you said this was a definite yes in that price range before...
I know how much electronics can change in just a few months so would you still recommend that would be my best purchase for 2,200? (has to be that size or larger)

There is nothing I would recommend over a Pioneer, other than a Pioneer Elite
If you want to wait, I'ld wait for the next gen of Panasonic plasmas. Panasonic and Pioneer as well as a couple other big names are working together and sharing technology...so I expect the next gen of Panasonic plasma to have as dark of a black as the current Pioneers.

I'm too impatient to wait
...I've been waiting 3 years for a new tv... I can hardly wait until next month!

word, and for the Price I'd rather go for a Samsung on frys.com because I can't seem to find a pioneer for that cheap.

A Pioneer will never be as cheap as most other plasmas...you're paying for the more advanced technology quite simply.
If the Pioneer is out of your budget, get a Panasonic plasma
