You can always play the waiting game...but it may not be a bad idea to wait a little. The next gen of Panasonic plasmas are just around the corner and they're gonna be a nice upgrade over the current gen.
btw, for plasmas I always recommend Panny over Samsung

Ok well here is what I am thinking. If I buy the Polk R50s for fronts and the CSR for the center, I can get them for $240 off Fry's. Since I'm looking for a subwoofer upgrade too, can you recommend one that would fit the $500 total budget? Do you think this would work well with the Yamaha receiver I have?

The BIC H-100 is a great sub for the price. It is what I'ld get for under $400, link on first page of this thread.
It should all work quite well with your receiver....although just to know does your receiver have a subwoofer preout? Should look like an RCA plug

Yes it does have a preout for a sub.
I will take a look at the BIC sub. I know that is probably the weak point in my system, as the Yamaha passive sub that came with it does nothing. I can hardly feel anything watching movies.

Well your sub is one of your most important speakers...so I do recommend you upgrade it...possibly even before your fronts!

So I found a place that had the Polk R50s in stock. I went to the store and listened to them and loved them. The store was selling them for something like double Fry's price. I immediately came home and bought two off Fry's. They shipped today, and are estimated delivery for tomorrow! Thank you for having a Fry's shipment center an hour from my house!
Bought a CSR center too. Heard good things about it from Death and the guy at the store. He seemed pretty knowledgeable. So anyway, thanks Death for the recommendations. I'm going to look around and upgrade my sub as soon as I get my tax refund. So anyway, thanks for the recommendations Death. I would agree the R50s are a great deal for the price. Maybe I'll post some pics tomorrow.

Sorry I missed your post....I've got a set of Monitor 50's in my living room on my secondary 5.1 system (I've got a system upstairs and downstairs). For what I paid for the set quite some time back ($350), I've been extremely pleased with them. I like the dual midrange setup...and I get towers as I don't like the look of bookshelves on stands and I don't have shelves to place them on. My basement setup has a pair of older Polk Rti800's that are quite similar to the monitor 50's...they are just bigger (6.5 versus 5.25). Sound is nicer on my Rti's, but they were also over 2x the price of the Monitor 50's.

The only thing which is "future proof" is DEATH. Did I mention, I absolutely hate the use of the term "future proof".

That's cool. I did not hear that. That's one of the things that I like with Polk...you can find them in the retail stores (most likely their higher end), but you can also find in genuine AV shops as well (likely their lower end).
I've listened to many speakers in my search and just found that Polk delivered the best bang for my buck. Are there better speakers out there??? Certainly, without a doubt. But most often they are going to cost you more.

I don't think the cost is the bigger issue...it's that you can't easily demo them. For example I really want to hear some Ascend Acoustics, Swans, Aperion, and Axiom audio(lots of A's huh?)...but there's nowhere for me to hear them...
