Calibration gives you the best image possible by helping you set your TV's settings properly. That means the most vivid image without losing detail and having the most accurate colors your HDTV can show.
It helps tremendously, most HDTVs out of the box look like ass and a quick calibration makes it look much more natural and lifelike.
Everyone should calibrate their display...it's worth spending $20(for DVE) to get the most of something that cost several hundred if not thousands. Not to mention you can calibrate all your TVs with the same disc

Yes, It's a dvd or Bluray. I'm not sure if they have it at Best buy or not. I don't think they sell it there.

does it matter what quality dvd player you have to how good it calibrates your television?

You should calibrate your HDTV using whatever dvd player you use most. Sometimes DVD players can vary the picture, so by calibrating with that DVD player you will compensate for those changes.
BestBuy does not carry DVE, but they do carry AVIA...it is quite good as well but it does cost $40. I recommend you just get DVE off of Amazon

Should I buy these:
Amazon.co.uk: Creative Inspire T6100 Speakers: Electronics & Photo
I have £40 of Amazon vouchers and these look the best out of the ones of this price range. (38 five star reviews) but can they actually be used with my TV? I don't want them for my PC. Also, the description says they are surround sound, but the title doesn't and the reviews didn't mention it, so are they?

Not really, 100/100 is perfect, 10/10 just means the game is a must by for everyone.

They're not gonna give you surround sound...to get Dolby Digital surround sound you need to have an optical input.
Creative is a decent brand...for 40 GBP I doubt you're gonna get much better. They're 8W per channel with a 26W sub...so you're not really gonna be able to crank them without making the speakers distort. Yes you can make them work with a TV.
What I would probably do instead is try to get a higher quality stereo setup as you're not going to have surround sound at that price point.
Something like this perhaps: Amazon.co.uk: Logitech Z-4 Speaker System 80w Black (2.1): Electronics & Photo
The Creative Gigaworks look good too
