Had a few electronics classes, read a lot of threads at DIY audio, other than that general knowledge. Overall though it was an easy guess, because he had pics of the dent where it was dropped . . . right on the power section.
I'm going to have to touch up the top front some, it still has two wrinkles in the mental underneath towards the front that aren't worth getting to. Still, it sure as hell beats my old Pio.

What plans are you using for the amp? 30W isn't a lot of power...is that solid state or tube?
|
It's actually going to be solid state. The reasons are that 30W is more than plenty for the room I'm using it in offering up to a 100dB on my speakers from my listening position. Lower power solid state means that you're closer to the max power out, and that brings down THD drastically. The impedance on my speakers only goes to 8ohm when being stressed according to stereophile's measurements, so they're really easy to drive. Lastly: it's cheap.
Worse case I go gainclone though.

Aren't you afraid of underpowering them? What are they rated at?
I wish I had more experience soldering and workin on equipment and what not...if only there was more time in a day

They're rated for 15W to 100W, so I shouldn't be clipping them considering the load they present.

I will be doing it little by little. I will probley do the surround sound 1st then go for the projector set up and what not. Im not worried about the money but higher cost means longer wait as i am a college student. Room has 6 recessed cans Lights will be off when playing tho. also I will build a screen for the projector dont wana just go stright to the wall.

Sounds like you've done some research which is good to hear.
However, you do need a budget. My favorite speakers(B&W 802Ds) for example cost $12k/ pr and are worth every penny...
