No. Burn-in is not an issue for new TVs.

be carfull with dead images on plasmas. It could burn the screen if left on for long peroids of time. not an issue with lcd.Plasma is much more prone to burn in.

You're 100 percent positive about that Omar? I haven't heard about plasma televisions losing their burn-in issues. I thought that they still aren't the best televisions for gaming. I wouldn't buy one.

It depends on the technology. Every plasma, except the new panasonics should be succeptible to some burn in... Of course its not as bad as it used to be, and you will have to spend an enormous amount of time on the same type of image to achieve this.
Video games aren't quite as bad as the windows desktop though..
DLP's and LCoS projectors won't have burn in problems. LCD's won't either. CRT's will only have burn in after VERY long periods of time...
If you have a plasma though, I would be careful about leaving it idle for long periods of time..

my brand new phillips crt hd 30 inch mentions burn in in the manual. It calls it uneven picture tube wearing but I think they propbally mention it in every tv manual. My other toshiba 26 inch crt hd tv mentions it but I think they just warn you so that they dont get sued if some punk out there purposely pauses there game with the tv on and leaves it sitting like that and it burns in after two weeks. I think burn in is not an issue under normal usage.

Kittyluva and nicknomo pretty much cover what I say below, except in fewer number of words
You know what causes 'burn-in'? An idle image left on for long periods of time. Back in the days of Nintendo, some video games had backgrounds and scenes that never, ever changed... it's like having your TV on for 24 hours and have the time flashing on screen as 12:00 for all 24 hours...
After quite a bit of time, that static image would still be visible on the screen once oyu change the channel.
But Xbox 360 games are always moving, flashing, and changing... you don't have to worry about a static background like a Nintendo game.
The only big issue with burn-in issue for today's TVs is a 4x3 image on a 16x9 -- you get blackbars on both sides... and since those black bars are static and non-moving, burn-in occurs.
But since the Xbox 360 supports 16x9, you really wouldn't have that problem.

What if you keep the game paused for a long time like I do?

How 'long' is long? Turning the TV off is one solution. Or simply saving and shutting down is another...
