HELP with MEDIA CENTER!!
Im trying to get the software for the media center on my computer and when i go to install this it never gives me the option to put in the security key that my xbox gave me... does anyone know why this is

Just bought a media center PC cos I couldn't get Crappy XP with media connect to work. Gonna try to hook everything up by the weekend, will let you know

For every machine you want to connect the xbox to (you can do multiples. I have a laptop with XP MC, and my desktop with XP MC connected) you need to generate a security key. This is so someone outside of your network doesn't tunnel in through your wireless or something and and start connecting to your devices. Go through the media set up on the 360 and the final step will be it assigning an 8 digit security code. Then when you install the software on your PC, it will ask you for that security code. Type it in and it should immediately detect it and say "Verifying Security Key". If it doesn't respond right away, your 360 and PC are not communicating properly.

how do i make them communicate properly? because it installed on my comp without asking for a key

are you running media centre edition or just plain XP?

i thought u had to buy a media centre for this to work not just have a normal xp pc
