Thanks for the info on this thread, it's been helpful.
Just hoping for a little more advice.
So far I'm running WMP11 with my 360 console. It has been detected and will play mp3s and show pictures.
I've downloaded Videora converter and attached the output folder to the WMP11 library.
The files play in WMP (I've downloaded the codecs) but they just don't come up on the console. One problem stems from some of the folders being put in a category "other" rather than "video." The "other" option isn't available in the media tab on the 360.
The main problem seems to be in the console, when I select "video" under the media tab, a MPEG4 folder is shown but when clicked, shows no files where there are some on the computer (converted and playing).
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I feel I'm just so close to having it all going.
Thanks.

apart from wireless why would you want to stream through the 360 to your tv anyway ? ,I stream direct to my tv via a dvi to hmdi lead and audio through normal cables and it works just great, and i dont have that noisy brick sitting there turned on , If someone has come up with a quite 360 please tell me as its way to noisy lol

Huh?
So you use your PC on your TV, and you don't use your Xbox as a media player.
Good for you.
And yes, you can quieten down your 360 by replacing the stock fans with some high performace ones, just check out the Modding section on this forum for guides and part lists etc.
