equipment protection advice
I have about $6,000 invested in my TV, sound system and my 360. I have all of this plugged into a surge protector, but I'm wondering if i should have more protection than that. I do notice that when the AC in my house kicks on the lights will dim briefly. nothing gets interrupted , no flicker of the tv or anything like that but it's the possible unseen consequences that i worry about. I've read up alittle on UPSes and heard about line conditioners but don't know enough to make any kind of sound decision on exactly what to buy to protect my equipment. Also it would be fairly easy for me to run a dedicated circuit directly from my breaker box... or would that be overkill? I know alot of you are very knowledgeable about these kind of tech issues and if you could give me a bit of advice i would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks.

I think having a separate circuit breaker for your TV and other equipment would definitely be 'overkill'. The surge protector should be just fine, don't be so paranoid!

All you relly need is a decent surge protector. Mine cost about $75 and it comes with half a million dollars insurance.... meaning if anything happens, the company will replace all of my equipment up to half a mil. Pretty good deal, if you ask me. Also, if you have that kind of equipment, get it insured separately, because if there's a fire or something (God forbid) you're gonna wish you had it

Panamax, Monster, and Belkin all make good power conditioners. I would go with Panamax.

you could go with a battery Back-up
like an APC
Basically it gives you enough time (an hour) to shut down everything down and not have any worries

I don't think there would be enough room in a person's house to make the 1/2 mil protection worth it tbh. Who the hell has that amount of quality gear anyway...?

I don't think it matters about the quality tbh. My PC is getting on in years, I don't have a great TV and my sound system is a basic stereo setup; but I'd still be pissed off if it all got damaged, when a £20 surge protector could have prevented it.
