nope. it powered down after about 29 seconds. maybe its still not on properly but im pretty sure it is now. i just wish i could see what was happening on the monitor. is there anything else that could be causing this?

Try with nothing but the CPU, one stick of RAM and a floppy drive, see if it stays powered up any longer like that.

okay... i just turned it on again without the gpu, hdd and dvd drive. and it started beeping. so i turned it off straightaway. what does this mean?

Did you take the Graphics card out, or just unplug the power connector?

Sure you've got both the 20 and 4 pin mobo power connectors in?
Have you tried with a single stick of RAM?

yeah. i just tried it with 1 stick of ram and both the 20 and 4 pin connectors are in. it still turned off
