Thanks for all the input. I have narrowed my search down to a couple TVs. One is regular screen other is widescreen. Does widescreen add any benefits to playing the Xbox 360?
These are the two TVs I'm considering
Samsung
OR
Sony.
The Samsung is about $550 and the Sony has sale price of $700 at local HH Gregg. Any thoughts on either TV ?
Thanks again for the input.

The 4:3 (normal non widescreen) will display like a widescreen dvd would on a regular tv. You will get black bars atop and below your image. The widescreen will fill the entire screen.

The xbox can support either widescreen or 4:3 and work fine. You will not get thous black bars when you play games because you can select the type of tv you have whether it be widesecreen or 4:3

Can I ask why you want that sony one? Is it for the sony name on it? For less than half that price you can get almost the same tv by philips like i did, I am more than happy with mine....But if you want to buy the sony for $800...well its your money, go ahead...

Toshiba is the same price but does not have bulky speakers on the sides. Good if you are dealing for tight places. Like a cabinet to put it in.
But yeah, Philips is cheaper and Magnavox even more lower in cost.

Thanks for your input everyone. I'm was thinking about the Sony model based 2006 Consumer Reports guide.
I checked out the Philips TV link to the outlet store...if you noticed, there is no mention of a warranty. I emailed the support and was told 90 day warranty. Just FYI.
