Yes, there is a difference. It's just that the human eye is incapable of seeing it.

See there is a difference lol. I dont know. I think in some areas running in 1080p seems to have smoother edges than 720p. I tried to compare 720p with 1080p running The Show and I swear I thought some areas seemed to have smoother edges.

You will see what you think is a difference, but It's a placebo, It's amazing how if we think something should look better, in our heads, it probably will. That's the same with pills etc, depressed people put on sugar tablets, told they are anti depressants, and they felt better.
Same kinda thing.

Well, were they the same displays showing material from the same source? Were they properly calibrated? Any differences there could make all the difference in the world. Wouldn't surprise me to see a store miscalibrate a 720p on purpose just to sell more 1080p displays to consumers who don't know any better to do their own research ahead of the fact. I've got some friends with 1080 displays who say they have "full HD"...but they don't even have an idea of what 1080p even means. I just chuckle to myself.

Damnit! Stop ruining it for me! I am trying to make myself feel better for upgrading to a 1080p tv. Now damnit I see a difference lol. Money makes you see things differently as well. If I have a bad headache and you give me a $100 bill. My headache will magically go away.

No. Because placebo is all mental. Those pills do nothing physically to the body, except put some sugar in it. As for different resolutions thats a physical thing. It has more lines physically. Just because the human eye "can't" tell the difference does not mean those lines simply don't exist.

Life is all about ass, you're either covering it, hauling it, laughing it off, kicking it, kissing it, busting it, trying to get a piece of it, or behaving like one.

Oh well, at least you realize after the fact that the difference doesn't justify spending any additional money. Most consumers don't have a clue and just believe what the manufactures and the stores feed to them. They really think they have something special.

That's not what this thread is talking about. There is a difference between 720p and 1080p signals. There is no difference between 1080p and 720p resolution displays.
Send the same 1080p signal to a 720p and 1080p display and they'll look the same assuming the other aspects of the HDTV are constant.
