You can, the other way just lets you connect EVERYTHING to the speakers...but i dont know if it will work with yours, thats why when i got my speakers i made sure they had optical in! Logitech z-5500s for the win!

A splitter will in essence take the 1 3.5mm input and make it into 2 3.5mm inputs so you can connect both your PC and 360 to it at the same time. The VGA cable comes with a Red/White RCA to 3.5mm adapter...I assume you're using it with a monitor?

If you do this, you'll have True Surround Sound. Right now you don't have surround sound as you can only get surround sound by using an optical cable...night and day difference

tbf im not 2 fussed about surround i just want sound on me speakers. Which jack do I have to buy?m and how much?

also i need like an extension for the sound or my VGA componet so it can reach, due to the fact that they are on the same cable

They do make 3.5mm patch cables(same plug on both sides)...should be easy to find
